FC Turbo Removal
This removal procedure is a guide and may differ from fc to
fc due to modifications. I will try to note where stock application differs
from my fc.
- Jack
car up high enough for you and a bucket can get underneath. Place jacks
stands under trailing arm rear mounts.
- Remove
the turbo inlet duct (to include afm and filter if you have them)
- Disconnect
vacuum lines from turbo, wastegate, upper intake manifold, and dual scroll
if you have a ser4.
- Disconnect
or remove 02 sensor.
- Remove
piping from turbo to intercooler.
- Remove
blow-off valve.
- Disconnect
the downpipe from the turbo and somewhere aft of the downpipe. I
disconnected mine from the y-pipe. Remove the piping.
- Remove
engine to manifold nuts, they are easier to get to than the turbo to
manifold.
- Disconnect
the coolant return hose. Drain coolant into bucket.
- Disconnect
the oil return line. Drain into bucket.
- Disconnect
oil pressure line.
- Disconnect
coolant pressure line.
- Remove
turbo.*
- You
may have to loosen main engine harness and a/c clamps to givce you some
extra space. Also disconnection of upper radiator hose may be needed.
- You
will also have to remove the heat shields prior to step 8 if you still
have the heat shields.
- If
anyone has anything to add, feel free. I have done this many times and it
is way easy, but I don’t have the damn heat shields either. I wanted to
do this to help any new person getting ready to tackle this job.
- I
also do not have any emissions or air pumps, so that may be some
consideration.
